The problem is not access

Most financial organizations already have warehouses, streaming platforms, catalogs and APIs. The harder problem is that the same issuer, instrument, event or exposure is described differently across systems.

What ontology changes

Ontology turns definitions into a reusable model. It states what an instrument is, how a listing relates to an issuer, when a corporate event becomes effective, which portfolios hold an exposure and which controls govern the decision.

Why this matters for AI

Vector retrieval finds similar text. A knowledge graph adds identity and relationships. Formal constraints add the rules that determine whether the connected facts are complete and valid. Together, they give GraphRAG and agents a better context surface.

Start with one decision

Do not begin by modeling the entire bank. Begin with a decision that currently requires several teams to reconcile data. Model the concepts and evidence needed for that decision, prove the graph, then scale the enterprise backbone.
